Wondering if Final Girl miniatures are worth adding? We break down how they change the solo experience, what they cost, and when to skip them.
Quick Answer
Yes, Final Girl miniatures can improve solo play by adding visual clarity and immersion, but they are optional upgrades—not gameplay necessities. If you value tabletop presence and don't mind the extra cost, they're worth it; if you're on a budget or prefer the game's original tokens, you can skip them without missing out.
Why Miniatures Change the Solo Experience
In a solo game like Final Girl, you're both the player and the audience. Miniatures replace flat tokens with 3D figures that make the action easier to track at a glance. When the Killer moves across the board, a miniature stands out more than a token, which can help you stay focused on the narrative.
The trade-off is cost and storage. Miniatures add to the price of an already content-rich game, and they require space to store and care. If you're comfortable with the original tokens, you won't lose any gameplay by skipping them.
What the Sets Add: Killer from Tomorrow and Birds
The Killer from Tomorrow Miniatures set includes 2 Killer Miniatures, 2 Final Girl Miniatures, 1 Savior Miniature, and 1 Vehicle Miniature. This set directly enhances your games of The Killer from Tomorrow, giving you figures for the main characters and the vehicle that plays a role in the scenario.
The Birds Miniatures set is designed for use with the Terror From Above feature, adding bird miniatures that bring the avian threat to your tabletop. It's compatible with Final Girl Series 1 gameplay, so it works with the scenarios that use this feature.
Both sets are from Van Ryder Games, makers of the Final Girl series, so they're designed to match the game's aesthetic.
Diagnosis: Should You Buy Final Girl Miniatures?
- Symptom: You feel the game's tokens are flat and you want a more immersive solo experience, or you find it hard to track the Killer's position at a glance.
- Likely cause: The original game uses cardboard tokens, which are functional but lack the visual presence of 3D miniatures. If this is your main issue, miniatures will likely solve it.
- Corrective action: Choose the set that matches the scenarios you play. If you own The Killer from Tomorrow, pick up the Killer from Tomorrow Miniatures. If you play Terror From Above scenarios, get the Birds Miniatures. Both sets are affordable upgrades that enhance the visual experience without changing the rules. Check which scenarios you own before buying, so you don't get a set you won't use.
- When to stop or choose another option: If you're on a tight budget, if you prefer the game's compact token design, or if you don't mind the abstract look, skip the miniatures. They are purely cosmetic and don't affect gameplay mechanics. If you're unsure, try playing with tokens first—you can always add miniatures later.
