The choose-your-own-path mechanics really pull you into Carl's desperate search for a cure, and the post-robot-apocalypse setting feels fresh and tense.
I didn't expect a graphic novel to make me this tense about a robot apocalypse, but playing Carl and sneaking out of the bunker to hunt for a cure kept me turning pages way past bedtime. The art does a great job selling how creepy the outside world has become.
The bunker disease twist had me genuinely stressed for Carl, which I didn't expect from a graphic novel. The art makes the robot-patrolled outside world feel properly hostile, and I burned through it in one sitting.
